Ping Script - built-in with the Universal Agent

The Universal Agent has a great feature called "HOTLIST". This is essentially a PING type utility that will also try SNMP if it is available.

Step 1 - Change to the IBM\ITM\TMAITM6\work directory
Step 2 - Create a file with all of the hostnames you want to ping.
Step 3 - Add LISTNAME=SOMENAME_GOES_HERE as the first line in the hostnames file.
Step 4 - Issue kumpcon loadlist filname_of_the_hostname_file
Step 5 - You are done, you now have a new Application Group under the Universal Agent, a view is automatically created with a report and a Situation Event console. You can now create a simple situation that will alert on any system that show a status other than "On-line".
